14 Websites to Download Research Paper for Free – 2024
Citationsy was founded in 2017 after the reference manager Cenk was using at the time, RefMe, was shut down. It was immediately obvious that the reason people loved RefMe — a clean interface, speed, no ads, simplicity of use — did not apply to CiteThisForMe. It turned out to be easier than anticipated to get a rough prototype up.

  • Sioyek is a PDF viewer with a focus on textbooks and research papers
Hypothesis https://web.hypothes.is/ is pretty good at keeping notes on PDF. Normally it anchors the annotations for any url but I believe that for PDF is also doing some extra checksum magic to uniquely identify the PDF and apply the annotations. Furthermore you can have collaboration features such as group annotations. Useful for classes or science labs... - Source: Hacker News / 24 days ago
  • What happened to the idea of having a comment section for each webpage?
Tools like https://web.hypothes.is exist and have a decent number of installs. The hard part of a generic third-party commenting tool is creating the right social context for it to actually be useful. I'm 39 and have been on the web since Netscape etc in the early 90s and I honestly care more about the extensions than I do anything the browser actually does. Like, if there were no extensions I don't think I'd care at all if I used Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. But Chrome and Firefox have this massive, massive ecosystem of productitivy improving extensions. • Reference generator for grey literature- any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
So I have to try and ask- has anyone come across any reference generation software for grey and white literature items? Something like- you copy-paste a link to a report, and they give you the reference in the style that you want. I tried https://www.citethisforme.com/ (lots of errors so basically requires the same, if not more time, to fix results) or https://citationsy.com/ (fewer errors but kinda costly).
