I still have the faded train ticket from my first solo trip through Europe, tucked into a shoebox with scattered photos and a dog-eared journal. Like many travelers, my memories are preserved in this haphazard collection of souvenirs. But when a friend recently asked, “How many countries have you actually visited?” I drew a blank.
