  I believe that courses will help you to be more organized, since if you pay for something, then you are more invested in doing well. However, if you can motivate yourself to study, then I don't really think you need courses. These days, there are a lot of free resources like blogs and videos available. That is mainly because I switched mostly to Linux a few years ago, and you'd think the lack of a good terminal app wouldn't be the biggest pain point of switching from Mac to Linux, but it absolutely is.
