I believe that courses will help you to be more organized, since if you pay for something, then you are more invested in doing well. However, if you can motivate yourself to study, then I don't really think you need courses. These days, there are a lot of free resources like blogs and videos available. HACK: If you want to save all of your current slack messages, sign up for https://orbit.love, connect it to slack, and then grab the messages from the API.
