Check out annotate.net. They have a Chrome extension that does that. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Faculty & Chromebooks: what are you missing?
We found annotate.net as a pretty good "replacement" for Smart Ink. There's a free version, "full" trial as well if you wanted to test it out. Cost is minimal for a site license in addition. We have it being used on all of our IFPs (smartboards and not) by teachers as well as some using it just on their Chromebooks for small instruction. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How to write on web browsers using Promethean software?
We signed up for annotate.net and it seems to work well on the Promethean Boards for writing over things like docs and slides. I believe it doesn't stay as an overlay like the built in board software, so I think it's good for some teachers to bring into the mix. Source: over 2 years ago

This isn't really Chromecast - it's 'raspicast' and needs it's own app. There are tons of similarly titled howtos that make it sound like you can run your own chromecast server -- you can't, unless you buy an expensive thing from airserver.com or a cheap chromecast. I have yet to find any real opensource chromecast server. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How to cast TO my Linux PC like if it's a Chromecast target? Is there an app that "simulates" a Chromecast receiver? I need it to cast the screen from my Chromebook tablet to my Linux PC.
