  If you wan't to make sure your files don't get distributed to AVs use other options like antiscan.me. The reason I use antiscan.me is because when im testing my malwares detectability I don't wan't to provide AVs samples of my malware, to avoid further detections. Source: over 1 year ago

  I wondered the same thing with really basic stuff done just to learn for the 1st times. Defender was certainly toughest of em all... But then I found out, every time even if VirusTotal or antiscan.me showed 0 detections, Defender immediately at least did in reality stop every attempt with real-time protection enabled at least, probably due to its heuristics and behavior scanning.   Well yeah, I mean no one forces you to use Explorer for file management under Windows. I'm an old-time Norton Commander user, and when Windows came around I switched to Total Commander. There are open-source alternatives too, even cross-platform ones, like this one: https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/.
