They also are very hesitant to allow researchers to publish their breakthroughs which makes recruitment very hard. All the UI part would make sense to do in React. The actual drawing board you likely would need to implement in canvas or SVG. It still could be a React component, but for actual drawing, you'd probably use something like Konva (https://konvajs.org/). Source: over 1 year ago
