As I mentioned in a comment above you could probably just use AgageDb (Rust implementation of Badger which is a single file high performance KVP store. Turn off all of its built-in transactional behaviour and see how fast it runs on BTRFS using reflinks instead. Source: over 1 year ago

Very cool! In a similar vein Distributed Services with Go [0] works through SST creating a KV store. I found it helpful for working with BadgerDB [1]. As an example, say you are a backend engineer and need to begin frontend. I'd pick up the frontend exposition of Increment(https://increment.com/frontend/) as a starting point vs anything else.
