The issue with Alice is that graphical, block based coding is not at all an ergonomic way to code. Personally, I like codingame.com (completely free unless you are an employer) - Their simple puzzles are great places to get an idea of how programming works and the kinds of problems they solve. I think the first puzzle I was able to solve as a beginner in a few days. Source: over 1 year ago
