Bun is a new JavaScript runtime built from scratch to serve the modern JavaScript ecosystem. It has three major design goals:
Speed. Bun starts fast and runs fast. It extends JavaScriptCore, the performance-minded JS engine built for Safari. As computing moves to the edge, this is critical.
Elegant APIs. Bun provides a minimal set of highly-optimimized APIs for performing common tasks, like starting an HTTP server and writing files.
Cohesive DX. Bun is a complete toolkit for building JavaScript apps, including a package manager, test runner, and bundler.
Bun is designed as a drop-in replacement for Node.js. It natively implements hundreds of Node.js and Web APIs, including fs, path, Buffer and more.
The goal of Bun is to run most of the world's server-side JavaScript and provide tools to improve performance, reduce complexity, and multiply developer productivity.

Based on our record, Bun.sh should be more popular than Apache Spark. It has been mentiond 147 times since March 2021. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
And if you're using Bun, rejoice - you can mix and match both systems in the same file:. - Source: dev.to / 9 months ago

I'm using macOS with Node.js v20.13.1 (lts/iron), VSCode with the official Vue extension, bun v1.1.8. - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
Bun is a new JavaScript runtime designed for server-side execution of both JavaScript and TypeScript. It’s developed in Zig, a low-level programming language that allows Bun to reach extreme levels of performance. Thanks to that, it’s suitable for developing high-speed server applications. - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
In this third and final article in the series on HTML Streaming, we will explore the practical implementation of the Diff DOM Streaming library in web browsing. This approach will allow any website using web components to retain its state during browsing. We will discuss in detail how to achieve this step by step using VanillaJS and Bun. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
In this project, I'm exploring the Medallion Architecture which is a data design pattern that organizes data into different layers based on structure and/or quality. I'm creating a fictional scenario where a large enterprise that has several branches across the country. Each branch receives purchase orders from an app and deliver the goods to their customers. The enterprise wants to identify the branch that... - Source: dev.to / 10 days ago
In contrast, Databricks maintains internal forks of Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog, using the same names for both the open-source versions and the features specific to the Databricks platform. While they do provide separate documentation, online discussions often reflect confusion about how to use features in the open-source versions that only exist on the Databricks platform. This creates a "muddying of the... - Source: dev.to / 12 days ago
Recently I had to revisit the "JVM languages universe" again. Yes, language(s), plural! Java isn't the only language that uses the JVM. I previously used Scala, which is a JVM language, to use Apache Spark for Data Engineering workloads, but this is for another post 😉. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
Consume data into third party software (then let Open Search or Apache Spark or Apache Pinot) for analysis/datascience, GIS systems (so you can put reports on a map) or any ticket management system. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
Also, this knowledge applies to learning more about data engineering, as this field of software engineering relies heavily on the event-driven approach via tools like Spark, Flink, Kafka, etc. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
