  • Buying a house...those 'how not to be house poor' calculators...
Back to the 'how much house can I afford', I saw one on NerdWallet, its numbers were all over the place, another simple one calculator.net here, claims the house we can afford is $471,778 (and $31,000 down). We found a new build with incentives and rate buy down that essentially will be 463,000 some odd, after the pmi up front for the FHA loan, our rate is 6%. So financing like $437,000. • Should I try to pay off my student loans as soon as possible or take it slow?
You could tackle it head on and do $1,000/mo. Per calculator.net, you would end up paying it all off in 15 months, costing you ~$14,450 including interest. Splendid, you're done. Source: 12 months ago

So I'm making myself a cutting diet to lose weight and after using 2 different website to find my recommended calorie intake, and having the exacte same settings on both, calculator.net gives me a 1lb lost/week of 2900 cal/day, fatsecret.com says I need to eat 4000 cal/day. • Using Flat Payment instead of Minimum Balance to pay debt off
Yes and no, I think I should of been a little more descriptive with what I was explaining so ill use some generic numbers. I used calculator.net for this pay off time frame. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Debugging Silent Create Action Failures in Rails
I often work with beginner Rails developers through The Odin Project and The Agency of Learning. One common pain point people may run into while learning is the dreaded "silent create action" failure. You've written your model, controller, and routes for a new resource, you've built the form view for creating this resource, but when you fill out the form and click the submit button, nothing happens. And the logs... - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago

  • GitHub Tutorial for Dummies?
For GitHub, I'll say just do basic things and most importantly learn about merging and creating branch checkout, etc. Try to work with a team where if you even push in main by mistake it won't be a blunder. Tutorials are good but I was at the same place once. Git was scary lol. There are some intermediate things like rebase etc. But you won't need most of it. Just go with theodinproject.com it'll be enough and try... Source: about 1 year ago
