This happens, sadly, if you don't do your homework. If you go with something like Chargemap or ShellRecharge you're going to have a bad awakening. If you want to be able to travel for cheap, go to Chargeprice and check the prices there. Adsbexchange.com has some really neat filters on their map page, which show up some interesting and unexpected flight features. Clicking 'U' at the top filters out all non military flights, clicking on the layers icon then reveals an option to see oddities such as UK radar corridors and UK 'AWACS' orbits.
