Couchsurfing: my preferred way of touring: you get to meet great and likeminded people, you don't have to lug around camping gear (although it's good to bring an indoor-sleeping bag). The site with name couchsurfing.com is broken. But the oldschool warmshowers.org and the new couchers.org are great! Actually, the management fees are much lower than that, check out mynd.co. Also, I am looking at getting a reputable home warranty company to check the maintenance issues in check. The only unknown costs are two things 1. How low will the houses go? I have a lot of paper gains, I don't want to lose them. 2.
