In terms of structure, consider following a book like Python for Everybody or Automate the Boring Stuff With Python. One of the hard parts of learning a language like python on your own is knowing what you should learn and the order you should learn it in--resources like these books or online courses you can find on Coursera are great for helping with that. I'm not a producer, but I am a journalist and publicist who has been on both ends of PR. I'm sure sites like linkfire are great and can take a lot of pressure of, but if you are independent, I always advocate for traditional PR and outreach - simply emailing!
