• Swatted this guy flying around my desk

  It looks an awful lot like some kind of wasp, but the abdomen is too narrow and it does not appear to have a stinger. I went through near 2000 insects listed in insectidentification.org. Some close in appearance include the hover fly, common oblique syrphid fly, crane fly, and the weevil wasp. LMK what you think. Thanks!!!! Oh, I'm in N.E.
