Currently the best option I have found is to pay a monthly suscription to Ecologi. This is a dead easy option, but from what I can tell they plant a relatively non-biodiverse range of species primarily localised in Africa. I recently got the Wavlink AX3000 mesh router to replace my service provided router so that I can set my own preferred DNS server (running Pihole on my Rasberry Pi). Since hooking up this router I've been seeing anywhere from 6-12 DNS queries per minute to bing.com of A and AAAA type.
