We currently have the Matrix protocol, with client applications such as Element supporting it. We also have XMPP as another option. Generally more modern than IRC, these platforms are primarily developed as FOSS software. This makes it less likely for developers to impact their users negatively. Just go on happycow.net and put in Rio de Janeiro, filter by Vegetarian Options. That'll give you a better chance for a place that has both options and is cool. The places with options that aren't necessarily 100% vegan are still very good. Source: about 1 year ago
