I too use a catchall address... And I'm always disappointed when Fastmail doesn't take all of the addresses that I get email sent to, and turn them into masked emails automatically! That can be annoying. Do you see them on Flipboard or when you navigate to the actual website of the article? If that's the case, then it would be up to the website that is hosting the article. I would recommend a good popup/ad blocker like adblock plus. Source: about 1 year ago
