If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. Download and install the File Converter, right-click on an image file such as jpg, png, etc. And hover over "File Converter" which should be above "Open with," go to "Configure presets," go to webp, set the quality to something reasonable like 90 (you can even go lower), save.
