Questions and Answers

As answered by people managing Glimpse and Hawker.

What makes your product unique?

Glimpse's answer

Glimpse leverages a proprietary algorithm that doesn’t have the lag that other search volume data providers have. Other providers have a number of issues, including lag time and bundling similar keywords together, which decrease the accuracy of their estimates. This is especially important for trends - for example, many of the other tools showed “chatgpt” having 0 or minimal search volume in mid-January 2023 when Glimpse showed it having 4M searches. Google Trends data doesn't suffer from these issues, and Glimpse's data is the only source that aligns with Google Trends.

Hawker's answer:

Hawker is a free speech social media platform where you can curate your thoughts in a twitter like feed and also launch your own community like in the case of Reddit. Hawker also lets you charge membership fee for specific access to parts of your community.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Hawker's answer:

There is no upfront cost to using Hawker. Hawker allows you to create a community and set membership prices for access to private channels within your community.

How would you describe your primary audience?

Hawker's answer:

Freelancers, creators, entrepreneurs who wants create, grow and monetize a community

What's the story behind your product?

Hawker's answer:

We decided to create a social media platform that could be used to promote the sharing of ideas and the building of communities. We took inspiration from the platforms we use the most.

We love twitter for our news and daily conversation.

We also love reddit for it's many interesting discussions and vibrant communities.

We took the best of both worlds and make Hawker. A free speech social media platform where you can curate your thoughts in a twitter like feed and also launch your own community.

We took it a step further and added monetization tools so that you can charge memberships for specific access to parts of your community.

Hawker Reviews

  1. hawker.social looks stunning

I like how it combines features from other social media platforms and even other features that are not built into other social media platforms

👍 Pros:    I can run subscriptions on my community channels
  2. Great find

Recently I bumped into this social platform, created my community and never looked back. Hawker allows one to create a community with multiple channels and monetize if you need. This platform is quite new so you can get all the benefits joining at the beginning.

🏁 Competitors: Reddit, Slack, Facebook Groups, Discord
    👍 Pros:    Multiple monetization|Multiple channels|Less popular|Blogging tool|Private communities
    👎 Cons:    Limited features|Less popular
  3. Hawker doesn't censor your content and the platform promotes free speech!

Ever since I started using Hawker to connect with my community, I've been having a blast! It's a lot like Reddit, where you can create communities based on your interests. Plus, you can make public and private channels just like on Slack. It's awesome because you can keep different discussions separate and focused on specific topics.

    • Hawker makes it super easy to create communities centered around things you love. Whether it's about technology, hobbies, or anything else you're passionate about, you can set up your own community in a snap. You can even customize it with a cool name, description, and logo, making it feel inviting.

    • What's really neat about Hawker is that you can create both public and private channels within your communities. Public channels are great for open discussions and collaboration, while private channels give you a safe and private space for sensitive or exclusive conversations. You have the freedom to choose how you want to interact with others. You can also monetize your private channels by charging members a one-time or a monthly access fee.

🏁 Competitors: Reddit, Discord, Slack, Facebook Groups
👍 Pros:    Easy to use|Easy user interface|Simple to setup
    👎 Cons:    None so far

  • Advices on making money online.
If you want to build something instead, I suggest taking a look at indie hackers to see what other people are doing or using a tool like glimpse to find trends before they pop-off and build a solution to those things. Source: 11 months ago
  • What job would be the best for someone just getting into Computer Science?
The most valuable and impressive thing you can do is build a business. Hands down. Especially if it makes money. That will show you're not just a cog in the wheel but able to critically think and have valuable practical skillsets. I would experiment with something that has tailwinds. Like an AI business, or a VR business once the new apple VR app store comes out. you'd be shocked at how much you can make... Source: 12 months ago
  • I want to help entrepreneurs start successful businesses
For example; trends.co is not very good because the people that write for them are journalists, not business owners so although the writing is good, the ideas are poorly researched. On the other hand, meetglimpse.com is pretty good, they have nuanced and unique business ideas that you can take advantage of but the market research behind it is a little lacking, their chrome extension tool is great tho. And then... Source: about 1 year ago
  • What realistic online business could I start these days with 5000$
a lot of things. I've built 3 online businesses that were profitable with under $1000. it's really just a hustle once you get product market fit. Starting something online shouldn't take that much money if you know how to test it. Check out like trends.vc, explodingideas.co, meetglimpse.com etc. They may be able to spark your creativity for ideas that could be good opportunities for the price point. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Underrated/lesser known side hustles?
Great idea. You should scrape ideas from meetglimpse.com, explodingideas.co, trends.co and the other sites that post ideas. Would be an easy way to bulk up the document. Source: about 1 year ago
