That third graph doesn't do a good job of accurately assigning commits to organization. For example, two the largest GNOME contributors for Red Hat are Florian Müllner and Jonas Ådahl. Both of them don't commit using a redhat.com email address. Instead they use gnome.org and gmail.com respectively. So they are incorrectly assigned in the third graph to either Personal or other where they should be with Red Hat. Source: over 1 year ago
However, a little research was enough to dispel that misconception. Yes, there was a technical aspect to programming, but most developers weren't doing complex calculations all the time.
