If they are W2 or 1099, look at gusto.com, but I would encourage you to speak with a CPA so they can best advise you on your situation. If you do things wrong, it could put you in a lot of legal trouble. Source: over 1 year ago
There's Quickbooks for accounting. There's Gusto for payroll. There's CalendarCrush for invoicing. It'll cost you about $200 a month to get tooled correctly and you're off to the races. Source: over 1 year ago

W2 employee - More complicated to setup but there are lots of great services like Gusto that do pretty much everything for you. Then you just run payroll and taxes are taken out of his check. Source: over 1 year ago
Third - the 1099. If you have a consulting contract, then you don't have to pay taxes for the individual. The consulting contract will clearly state that they are responsible for all taxes, including self-employment taxes. I still use a payroll service (gusto.com in my case, but whatever floats your boat) to pay contractors, that way someone else is taking care of the 1099s and such, which can be a pain in the ass. You can check your status (or actually register to vote) by going to vote.org and selecting your state. It's simple and takes very little time. Do it now so you're ready for the November 2023 local and state elections and to have one less thing to worry about going into the 2024 General Election. Source: 9 months ago
Friendly reminder to go to vote.org and Ohio Democrats, make sure you're registered, register like-minded individuals, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Go to r/voteDem for more opportunities to see what you can do in your area! This isn't just about Nov 2024, but all the little stuff in between (like Issue 1!!!) Early voting has ALREADY started, but it's not too late by any means at all!! Source: 11 months ago
But, but... it's for the kids! (except for when the kids are being shot, then we don't give a shit). It's so insanely transparent and obvious that legislators (on both sides of the aisle, but definitely one side more than the other these days) use 'kid safety' as an excuse to push through distracting and fascist state style policies. Same thing that was happening in 1930 Germany. I'm re-reading The Rise and Fall... Source: 12 months ago
