I've had good results for the past ~6 months using Habit List [0]. What's worked for me is to slowly add 1-2 new items, being thoughtful about prioritizing them. Now, if you're doing it for real, the best and also most common method is simply, "use a computer". Many computer systems are really, really good at solving these equations and inequalities. You can also graph it and see on the graph every time it crosses zero. You can even do it for free without fancy software.
