Ethereum is not just currency at its core, its a smart contract platform which is used to implement distributed consensus, where each participating party sign the result, with their consensus algorithm. That all being said: We are now all waiting on wxwidgets to release their next stable version so that we can upgrade. It makes no sense to use an unstable version of that upstream, as in its development releases it literally breaks on every patch level release.
