You can add Samba (and other) shares in there by tapping the '...' in the upper-right corner, hitting 'Connect to Server', then inputting your local server's address and connecting. Https://immich.app/ has built in auto-detection and tagging. I am surprised by the over-engineered comment. Object auto-detection is kind of an advanced feature and I would expect a lot of extra infra required for it. To keep albums pristine, know that takeout exports two copies of files that are in albums : once in the album folder, once in the year folder. So make sure when deleting duplicates with PhotoSweeper for photos, and Video simili duplicate cleaner for videos, to mark the album folders as “prefered” or “locked” folders to be kept at all costs.
