I started with Droidcam during the pandemic and switched to Iriun. Currently using it with an old iPhone SE over USB, but also used with Huawei P20 Pro. Not many features, but just works. https://iriun.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
I clamp the lasergun and my phone (with little stands and clamps like this , with the phone's cam pointing at the gun "nozzle") on my adjustable standing desk, then sit with my back in front of it, looking at my laptop on my lap that shows a stream from my smartphone cam (iriun.com). For webcam I suggest a cellphone(s) and the droidcam or iruin software. Plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to set it up. Its pretty easy and I've used some very old cellphones with decent picture quality. Source: over 1 year ago
If you have {Windows, Mac Linux} and {Android, iOS}, you can use Iriun: https://iriun.com. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Download and install a free program called Iriun Webcam from https://iriun.com -- This will be used later, you need an unused audio device for routing purposes, I like Iriun because it's free and I've never had any trouble with it, it also has four channels which can be useful. GitHub Discussions can also be a great place for support as long as these are regularly monitored. Another option along the same lines is Discourse and the Open Source Matrix which is used by quite a few Open Source and community-based projects. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
A lot of communities use [Discourse ](https://discourse.org). [LPSF](https://forum lpsf.org) migrated to it when Yahoo Groups was discontinued. Some of the advantages are that it's open source, self-hostable, and can be configured to work as both a traditional mailing list and modern forum. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
More like https://discourse.org/. You can run it yourself, but I can also just have them ding a credit card every month and not think about it again (I do this for a community). - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
Discourse perhaps? I've seen it in use in a few places; it has a modern look and feel to it at least. https://discourse.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
I fully agree with you see my comment here[0] -- I think you may have misread my comment, it says "Discourse" (as in the forum software[1]), not Discord. [0]: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37245220. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
