  • Ask HN: What macOS apps/programs do you use daily and recommend?
Besides the usual Firefox/Chrome, Spotify, etc I use the following: - Karabiner-Elements for key remapping, specifically, for making caps lock into ctrl/esc. I don't know of anything else that does this job. Everyone who remaps keys seems to use this. - Kitty as my terminal of choice. I spend most of my time logged in remotely to a server via ssh where I attach to a tmux session. Kitty was easy enough to... - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago
  • Ask HN: What macOS apps/programs do you use daily and recommend?
If I had to recommend 1 app/script that I use daily: https://github.com/banga/git-split-diffs) to disable things like "Apple + Q" -> nothing worse than going to close a single tab and then your whole app quits. Also able to re-map caps-lock into escape, ect `iterm2` for terminal (colored tabs are great; albeit I disable the hell out of many of the options like "clickable urls" ect) for cli, I try to gnu... - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago
  • Ask HN: What if we wrote HTML with [brackets][/brackets]?
I have been using Karabiner elements (https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org), they allow keyboard customization, I have switched the colon and semicolon key, by default without pressing shift, the key will output colon (:) , I find this useful as I type lot of colon daily. Maybe you can use this software to set "<" and ">" to be the default text output without using Shift. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Remote desktop from Windows to Mac, native keys and function
In the settings of chrome remote desktop there is an option to not send modifier keys etc to the host system. I've also heard of https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/. Source: 8 months ago

Possible karbiner but I've never looked into doing specifically that, so I may be wrong https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

  • UM690: My short MiniPC Journey and the review bias
So, you're complaining about a company, that hired a second company to host its files for download. Mediafire has been selling file storage / download capability to the internet and businesses, for ages. It's been reviewed by Gizmodo, c/Net, Lifehacker, TechCrunch, and engadget.com, that I know of. • Trump’s free speech app Truth Social is censoring content and kicking off users
How? It's not up and operating yet? There is still a waiting list to join when it goes live. Maybe somebody at engadget.com should research before writing articles. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Why can't I load websites when connected to ProtonVPN? It only loads after disconnecting.
This is from the DNS server on their VPN server not responding to your computer's DNS requests (aka, your PC is asking it what the IP for engadget.com is and the DNS server on their side isn't responding so your PC doesn't know the IP needed to get there). I made a post about noticing this happen at random on the US-IL#60-68 servers but it seems afew others it's happening on as well. Source: over 2 years ago
  • problems loading websites, even Reddit....
I keep getting this warning. Sometimes hitting F5 will load the page fine, sometimes no. I would have to F5 many times for the site to load. it happens on multiple browsers. Here im trying to open engadget.com and petapixel.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • The soon-to-be new face of blockchain gaming
Recently, holoride had a roadshow in the US and got to show off its In-Car gaming. The experience was really amazing and this even led to R. Baldwin of http://engadget.com giving a review of the experience. Source: almost 3 years ago
