"Regular" people don't really need FFMPEG. Regular people need tools with GUIs that have a non-generic purpose. So stuff like https://kdenlive.org/en/ that are backed by ffmpeg are (imo) superior "regular" person tools. I have a bunch of Sonos speakers and hooked them all up to a Mac running Airfoil (https://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/). It isn't perfect and audio occasionally de-syncs or a speaker drops out.
