Now I kinda wish I'd thought to go look at how your animation is done - is it a gif under the hood, or is it a cool canvas thing? I don’t think comments make a story more visible on HN, it’s not like https://tildes.net/ My belief actually is that visibility of posts is suppressed if they get, say, 20 comments and already have 50 votes.
