  • Tools that keep me productive
I use Loopback for virtual audio sources. This is super helpful because I create an audio source, which is my microphone and the guest's (guests') audio, and treat it as one input source. I use this audio source as the audio source for live captioning. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
  • Atlassian Acquires Loom
No, it's very easy: https://existential.audio/blackhole/ Blackhole is Free and Open Source. Also, Rogue Amoeba has a product called "Loopback". It's not cheap, but it's another alternative: https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • EQ Mac audio INPUT?
This is the basic idea, but there are other apps which can make it easier. I prefer using Audio Hijack for the EQ part and sending it to a pass-through device set up in Loopback (which, for this use case, functions the same as BlackHole). Source: 9 months ago
  • Upgrading my gear, need some advice for recording multiple people
    - Loopback 2 by Rogue Ameba to create a pass-thru from the soundboard (Farrago, also by Rogue Ameba) to Skype so everyone can hear me talking in addition to the soundboard on the same line. Source: 12 months ago
  • Yamaha MG10XU and Zoom only recognizing one channel from the mixer / audio interface
At the risk of further complicating matters, you could try combining sources or otherwise experimenting with Loopback, an app that's designed to do all kinds of audio routing stuff. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Pegasus Mail Newsflashes
I’ve gone through this process for my email client Kanmail [1]. The third party audit is not required for email clients that run on end users computers and store credentials locally. By the looks of it Pegasus falls into this category and should not have any issues getting approved (still need the YT video and such but the Google team are surprisingly responsive and helpful in my experience). • Ask HN: Anyone making a living building desktop applications?
I’m building a desktop email client [0] that has $45 lifetime licenses. Made to scratch my own itch I’ve been using it as my only client for 4 years now, barely makes any money though! [0] https://kanmail.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Compile Python applications into stand-alone executables
I use pyinstaller for my Kanmail email client [1] and it’s fantastic, but at creating Mac app bundles or Windows exes. Tried making actual standalone binaries for another project and, as others have mentioned, they’re incredibly slow to startup. Still, I am a huge fan of the project and it makes it possible to make webview desktop “apps” (like or hate them) with Python. [1] https://kanmail.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • How do you create a cross-platform GUI without using Electron?
There's pywebview (https://github.com/r0x0r/pywebview/) which is a Python lib that uses whatever native webview implementation exists. Obviously means some compatibility work between each OS, but gives out very small apps what work very well on the whole. I'm using it on my cross platform email client (https://kanmail.io). - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
