Honestly, you're probably best off just reading LWN: https://lwn.net/. They publish articles on bleeding-edge features of the kernel, often before they're even merged. The editors are highly technical, and excellent writers, who are able to explain technical concepts in a way that's often clearer than what you'll read in a textbook anyways. One of the hard parts of learning a language like python on your own is knowing what you should learn and the order you should learn it in--resources like these books or online courses you can find on Coursera are great for helping with that.
