Probably the best - and in the long run easiest - is to set up a membership solution that has different levels, something like this - https://memberpress.com/, thats a bit more work in the start, but after that its nearly automatic, where each member only has their own password, log in, and get access to the materials they have purchased. It sounds like membership really is a good idea. Two plugins that I think would work for you (since you want to sell access) would be the pro version of Easy Digital Downloads (https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-digital-downloads/) or MemberPress (https://memberpress.com) which also offers membership to downloads. There are several plugins that can do this. Memberpress for example: https://memberpress.com. Source: about 2 years ago
My initial thoughts would be something like https://memberpress.com/ and https://www.sharedfilespro.com/. Source: over 2 years ago

Generally more modern than IRC, these platforms are primarily developed as FOSS software. This makes it less likely for developers to impact their users negatively. However, despite these advantages, these platforms lack the refined user experience (addictiveness and stickiness) that... Source: about 1 year ago
Please DM me if you are interested in hiring me or have any questions at all. We will work via Element (https://element.io) voice/screen share calls, so please make sure you have a mic available. I look forward to hearing from you. Source: about 1 year ago
Your best bet is probably matrix, the most user friendly client iirc is element. Source: about 1 year ago
