  • Ask HN: Are you aware of a sane path to selfhosted email server?
I own domain names, but I'm not smart or techie enough to do it myself. I found Modoboa: https://modoboa.org/en/ and when I finally do it and if they are still around, I'll probably go with them. HTH. - Source: Hacker News / 24 days ago
  • I don't know how I feel about email
Setting it up from scratch is extremely annoying but there are foss solutions which manages everything mentioned and more, you only need to install & add the specified DNS records. Modoboa does a great job at this: https://modoboa.org/en/ > Also apparently there's no real way to migrate between email servers either This seems false (unless I'm misunderstanding), you can just setup a second mailserver, change DNS... - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
  • Modoboa Failed
I did ask over the Form on their website. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Just finished migrating my old tower servers to a Kubernetes cluster on my new rack!
For receiving email, I use Modoboa, but I am planning on moving the backend to Docker Mailserver. I usually reply with a Gmail address though. Until I get the email server configured to send emails through something like Sendgrid. Source: over 1 year ago

I will get the front door replaced with a ring.com or similar application. Source: 7 months ago
  • What is your recommended floodlight camera you had more than a year that works great?
Thank you! That is good to know! I actually bought the plus from costco! But, then read reviews that scared me off and returned it without trying it.( though I should research more) But, now costco has the pro like a month later and no longer the plus. Really I just want it to work. Only thing great with costco if there is a major issue I can return it in 3 months. If I get it from ring.com I only have 30 days. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why can't I go to ring.com?
I don't know what the heck is going on but I can't open any ring.com or support.ring.com page in Chrome. I even tried turning off all my extentions and I still can't get any page to load. I get a white screen with no content. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I am dumping Ring because of the switch to requiring a browser and website instead of an application...
Whatever their reason is, it was a stupid move to decide to sunset the desktop app, that gave instant quick access to Live view and recordings, for a completely browser based "solution". Just f'ing completely stupid. I can't quickly open up a browser and go to ring.com to check anything. I can't just have browsers and tabs always open when I'm in the middle of a very system resource heavy session... Source: about 1 year ago
  • ring doorbell not charging
My ring doorbell is not charging. Was at 29%, so I brought it inside and plugged it in. After 24 hours it was at 42%, so I unplugged it. Also, tried the trick of pushing the button three times. After being unplugged for 3 hours it is now at 29% again. I tried the help section on ring.com, but it wasn't any help. What to do? Source: about 1 year ago
