I always use kbb.com and nadaguides.com to get a starting point for pricing then I check BaT for what the market is for low mileage, perfect examples. From there I go to autotrader, ebay, etc. Lastly, I create a CL search for all the areas near me and wait to see what rolls in. As to the data the article is using... It mentioned fuelly.com as a source. Just clicking on a few PHEVs from that website, it's abundantly clear how tiny the data set is. Nor does it seem to do much in the way of data verification. I just pulled up the listing for the Chevy Volt. Nice! I have a 2015 corolla LE and my best tank was 50.8 MPG on 412 miles. It was a trip from KY to OH cruising around 65 mph mostly. I average 42.8 MPG across 140,264 miles tracked via fuelly.com. If I didnt live in cold Michigan winters it would be higher. Very fuel-efficent gas-only car, definitely capable of 50+ MPG with the right conditions and certain manner of driving.
