  Get a Kill-A-Watt, or something similar and start seeing how much power those things draw. My mini fridge uses about 400 watts per day. Rather than getting a coffee pot, get a french press and a good thermos. And instead of the tv and dvd player, can you just have a couple of tablets instead? They use far less power. They are not very popular in the US but the product is easier to manage and more scalable than any other open source Prometheus replacements.
