I needed to find a "higher than youtube quality" version of a demo album, which the only working downloads I've found for them is in an Nzb file (https://livegigs.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=110), and I've figured out that it's related to usenet and all that. Getting a user's location from their IP should be possible with something like this https://ipgeolocation.io/ (free for up to 1000 requests per day which my puny website will never get). Latitude + longitude data from this service could be used to place the location dot accurately on the globe, although I'd have to look more into the math aspect of that before.
