You can go around some of the extra processing by using other camera apps, for example "Open Camera". It can even shoot RAW photos, so that the least amount of processing is applied to the image. That all being said: We are now all waiting on wxwidgets to release their next stable version so that we can upgrade. It makes no sense to use an unstable version of that upstream, as in its development releases it literally breaks on every patch level release. It also makes no sense to start packaging a custom version of wxgtk just for audacity (the overhead required is just not worth it). Source: over 2 years ago
