I would also get him a course in recording using whatever recording workstation software you settle on. There are tons of them out there on sites like Monthly.com . Make sure to pick one that says you come out of it with 3 (or whatever) FINISHED SONGS. Learning is cool but having done pro recordings is a huge blast to creativity. Source: 7 months ago
