  This is not for everyone, but I host my family photos myself, most recently with this: https://piwigo.org/. I have been doing this since 2007 (started on a different software, called "gallery". Was able to migrate from gallery2 to gallery3 and now piwigo), and so far no major issues. • Pros and cons of sharing your baby on social media

  Neither of us have social media besides Reddit to begin with. However, with our families scattered all over the place, we were finding text chains were getting unwieldy. We use FamilyAlbum now and couldn't be happier with it. Very private, easy to use for the grandparents, and they make adorable highlight reel movies.   Hey, maybe not with MIL, but if there are people you trust not to be garbage and want to share photos with, this is what we use. It’s invitation only, and you can revoke access at any time.
