Planetary mentions (4)

  • Planetary.social
This may not be the perfect space for this question, but it's probably close enough. Evan Henshaw-Plath apparently has a new project called planetary.social that uses a protocol called Scuttlebutt (which I've never heard of), which seems to be "open", but MIT licensed. I've always appreciated Evan's politics (he was a key contributor to Indymedia and Riseup.net, if I remember correctly), but I'm not quite sure... Source: about 2 years ago
  • New to scuttlebutt and wanting to host a server. Room or Pub?
Rooms are new and only manyverse supports them so far. The new rooms 2.0 is based on go-ssb and there is also a go-ssb pub. With planetary we use go-ssb in the ios app but the older js pubs in the cloud. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2021)
Planetary.social | Go / Swift Devs | Full-Time | Remote | $ Market | https://planetary.social Help us build out secure scuttlebutt as an open protocol for decentralized social media that puts users in control. Work on open source to solve important problems in the world. Planetary is working with twitter's bluesky to build a better future. We're looking dev's who want to work on our decentralized go lang... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
  • Manyverse – A social network off the grid
Manyverse is a great app, one of several compatible ones which use the secure scuttlebutt protocol. For ios another open source one is https://planetary.social/ which I wrote. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

  • Essential Tools & Technologies for New Developers
For Linux users, your default terminal is just fine. The only thing I would install is oh-my-zsh with the autocomplete plugin. For my Mac friends out there, iTerm is an amazing software that works well with oh-my-zsh as well. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
  • Improve your productivity by using more terminal and less mouse (🚀).
If you are not using oh-my-zsh, you are missing out on some amazing plugins. One feature most people wish the terminal had is autocompletion. With the zsh-autosuggestions plugin, your terminal will autocomplete most commands and remember previous ones. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
  • Terminal commands I use as a frontend developer
That’s the minimum terminal setup. You can modify the look and add plugins such as autocompletion to your terminal by installing ohmyzsh and using themes such as powerlevel10k. I am already using them. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
