  Protect yourself by first pulling your FICO score (go to MyFico and pull your own score, and you can get a coupon from retailmenot.com) and shop around. You can shop around for rates without a hard pull so you know how much car you can afford for the interest rate you would qualify for with that FICO.   There are a ton of ways you could design this system. For example, Stripe has an Issuing product that you can use to issue virtual debit cards to your users.
