Luzi's job almost 20 years ago involved working across several and constantly changing PCs and devices. He wanted to be able to quickly reuse commands, scripts, and notes across all and any device without singing in. The app had to be as simple as possible so it would run on any (old) device. He has used it intensely as a consultant, project manager, general manager, CEO, board member, scientist, lecturer ever since - and it grew with him and millions of users across the globe.

Bypass Paywalls is a lifesaver: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bypass-paywalls-clean/ Also, I'm having a hard time swallowing the sensationalization of this title. Feel the one from the article is much better: "Facebook pressed to release research on how its platforms affect users". Text of original article pasted here: https://shrib.com/#fb-hn-paywall In my understanding, expecting Facebook to... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

For instance, I wrote some R code (you can directly copy/paste the code) for a particular example where a random forest (i.e. Classification model) is used to predict whether if an observation will be "approved" or "rejected" (see here for the code: https://shrib.com/#Madelyn_NMjYE8) . I searched for an online Notepad and clicked on this one, [website](https://shrib.com) randomly to demonstrate this. I typed the words test and text incorrectly. It didn't show there being any words incorrectly spelt. As seen here - [Imgur](https://i.Imgur.com/Nj6R8zB.png). Source: about 3 years ago
Single-page applications (SPAs) existed before S3, but given that you still had to set up, scale, and maintain servers using something like Apache or NGINX in order to serve them, the advantages for “Ops” or “DevOps” were not so different to running a “real server” with a language like PHP, python, or Java. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
Both Docusaurus and Starlight generate static sites. This means that theoretically, they can be deployed on any platform that supports deploying static sites (like Apache or NGINX). But both of them provide a significantly better developer experience if we deploy on their recommended platforms. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
Simiplicity is nice, but there are reasons why Perl and PHP were the popular choices for web stacks in the early 2000's--they are faster and easier to develop with than C and likely safer than C too. Mod_perl (https://perl.apache.org/) and mod_php (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/plugins/servlet/mobile?contentId=115522403#content/view/115522403) helped to make Apache httpd (https://httpd.apache.org/) the... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
