You probably already know that you can program LibreOffice, but as you are asking specifically about an API: I can't comment on LibreOffice's API, sorry, as I've never used it. Dropbox: You absolutely NEED backups. Ideally, both physical and cloud backups, because if you only have one backup, you're not backed up.
