Back in the day there was Project XWalk, which saved my ass on a couple of projects, as I was able to distribute a hybrid web app with a fixed browser engine where we were sure everything looked right. These were the days when the WebView was not updateable (unless you updated the entire OS) and each device had a different browser engine with their own bugs, despite them being all Chromium-based.
