Yggdrasil features and specs

  • Decentralized Network
Yggdrasil offers a decentralized networking system, which means there is no central point of failure. This enhances the network's resilience and uptime.
  • End-to-End Encryption
The network automatically encrypts all traffic between nodes, ensuring data privacy and security throughout the network.
  • Scalability
Yggdrasil's architecture is designed to scale efficiently, so it can handle a large number of nodes without significant performance degradation.
  • Global Connectivity
Nodes can connect from anywhere in the world, making it easy to set up a global network without geographical restrictions.
  • Open Source
Being open source provides transparency and allows the community to contribute to the project, improving its robustness and feature set over time.

Possible disadvantages of Yggdrasil

  • Complex Setup
Initial configuration and setup can be complex, especially for users who are not well-versed in networking technologies.
  • Resource Intensive
The protocol can consume significant system resources, which might be a concern for users with limited hardware capabilities.
  • Limited User Base
As a relatively niche project, the user base is smaller compared to more established networks, which can limit community support and peer nodes availability.
  • Latency
Due to its mesh architecture, the network might introduce additional latency, especially as the distance between nodes increases.
  • Debugging and Diagnostics
Troubleshooting issues on a decentralized and encrypted network can be more challenging compared to traditional, centralized networks.

  • Is there any good web accessibility course out there that teaches you how to implement accessible components such as navigation menus and stuff?
The W3C website is a great resource, the section on ARIA](https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/) and as others have pointed out the patterns section is great and includes examples. Source: about 2 years ago
  • im learning... html validator is seeing issues within like the first 2 lines. but i dont see anything that hasnt been perfectly validated before without issue... do you see a mistake?
I copied that directly into the validator at w3.org and it showed no errors. https://validator.w3.org/nu is what you're using, yes? Source: about 2 years ago
  • Site Issues From Site Checker
Time to start Googling! Those are all solvable things that you can fix. The last ones in black are strange though... I have no idea what the reference to w3.org is for. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What's causing script and stylesheet issues on my shop/product pages?
Google tells me some pages on my website have mobile usability errors - detailed results on GSC show 45 of 75 resources couldn't be loaded, many are apparently script and stylesheet issues to do with the theme and some plugins. The affected pages also load very slowly on GTMetrix. I turned on minify html, css and js on my caching plugin but it didn't seem to help. I did a Validate CSS check using a tool on w3.org... • WARNING! Do NOT go to bloodspells.com. It is loaded with malware, and if I was not heavily into computer security I would have been hacked. If you already visited the site, I STRONGLY recommend you do a security/anti-virus scan immediately.
Depending on what prompted this issue, there are a myriad of resolutions. If it's your SSL certificate then you simply need to get that registered and compliant. If it's because of bad coding then you can check out https://w3.org to test your code and fix it. Otherwise, you could always hire or consult a web developer. Source: over 2 years ago

  • ZeroTier – home VPN without a public IP address
I tried Nebula, but ended up with Yggdrasil instead. https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/ Unlike Nebula, it gives you an IPv6 address (actually, millions of them per node, if needed). They now also have a userspace only SOCKS 5 proxy server that can connect your app to the whole network without forcing user to install drivers or to mess with their network configuration. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • The New Internet
Yggdrasil is p2p ipv6 e2ee. https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/ Last I checked, it hasn't solved DNS yet (there are unofficial projects trying to do that). I tested a small private network with a few devices and it worked very well. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • The New Internet
Isn't yggdrasil[1] supposed to be the New Internet? If not, why Tailscale specifically, and not Netbird, Nebula, Netmaker or some other competitor? The article is indeed very well written, but gives the wrong vibes, like something's coming: acquisition, pivot, split, shutting down, etc. Also, "we're re just getting started", the famous last words. Just to balance my healthy mistrust, I'd like to add that I'm a... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Meshtastic: An open source, off-grid, decentralized, mesh network
Yggdrasil can use WiFi on Android, I haven't tried it yet - https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/. Yggdrasil gives you the ability to use TCP/IP applications over its mesh network but doesn't offer any end-user functionality itself. Manyverse can use WiFi for decentralised social networking - https://www.manyver.se/. They're currently in the middle of a rewrite of the backend and a protocol switch away from Secure... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Meshtastic: An open source, off-grid, decentralized, mesh network
There are more state-of-the-art routing protocols working to solve this problem for mesh networks. A couple examples of projects I have been involved in: https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/ https://github.com/matrix-org/pinecone. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
