  • Ask HN: Voice Equivalent to "This Person Does Not Exist"?
The website https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ has been mentioned a few times on HN; is there a voice equivalent to this concept? The question came to mind when we were evaluating an AI multilingual, voice-over service and someone asked about indemnification from copyright claims (eg: if this service used a voice that sounded too much like Scarlet Johanssen, for example). Surely there are purely AI voices out... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
  • Wikipedia No Longer Considers CNET "Generally Reliable" Source After AI Scandal

  • Realism Engine SDXL v2.0 just released
I wonder if we will ever get a realism model which can produce normal faces like https://thispersondoesnotexist.com instead of like super symmetrical faces of models. Source: 7 months ago
  • Spongebob!!!
This has been in circulation since a while AI images took off, and they certainly weren't convincing before they did. You know the old "try to name one thing in this image" macro? Pretty sure that was AI generated, there was also thispersondoesnotexist.com which was always pretty good but of course it is. Source: 7 months ago
  • Many AI images have are photorealistic, but have a strangely empty and ''soulless'' expression. Something is wrong, but it's hard to say what
Not the workflow for these images, but if you easily want to spice up your gens with a bit more natural look, try using images from thispersondoesnotexist.com with IPAdapter face model. Source: 7 months ago

  • Keep your files safe. What can happen if you throw away a defective hard drive?
What lessons can we take away from my story? They are, in fact, quite simple and obvious: merely deleting files and quick formatting is usually not enough when disposing of or selling hard drives. For more assurance, it’s better to perform a full format (in modern operating systems, of course). And for the truly paranoid, there’s the good old console utility SDelete from the Sysinternals suite or a tool named... - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
  • Hyper V VM full disk, won’t boot
I assume you were using a dynamically expanding disk - if so just note it won't dynamically contract just by deleting files. To shrink the drive you will likely need to run sdelete -z on the drive inside the VM to clear the free space, then edit and compact the VHDX. You will need to be able to boot the VM to run sdelete though so you'll need to temporarily move other files off the drive, or move the VM files to... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Does formatting a drive remove bitlocker encryption from formatted data?
You can always download sdelete https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/sdelete and do an overwrite pass just to be safe. It'll take a while but you can do other things while it's running. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Bitwarden backups
My understanding is that it doesn't completely solve it. I don't have time to dig up an authoritative source for this claim — hopefully this superuser comment will suffice. I believe that you can achieve something close to a secure erase by filling up your SSD to 100% capacity with data before deleting; the utility sdelete supposedly does this when using the -c option. • Wiping HDD in windows. Which program to use?
Check out sdelete from the MS sysinternals utilities suite: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/sdelete. Source: over 1 year ago
