I don’t think comments make a story more visible on HN, it’s not like https://tildes.net/ My belief actually is that visibility of posts is suppressed if they get, say, 20 comments and already have 50 votes. Bazaarvoice is a commercial marketing site and as far as I know, is not at all responsible for posting reviews to Google. Yet, I received an email from noreply@hrblock.com with text, "Share your experience with Google" but a link that jumps to bazaarvoice.com to answer a couple questions like a review might look like.
