I don’t think comments make a story more visible on HN, it’s not like https://tildes.net/ My belief actually is that visibility of posts is suppressed if they get, say, 20 comments and already have 50 votes. Then I figured out that there are tools for that like oncrawl , botify , etc. That makes it much easier! But after I've tried jetoctopus it completely changed my approach to on-page optimization, technical SEO in general, and Log file analysis in particular.
