Best Windows 10 Music Player Apps for PCs in 2019
While Foobar2000 was pushing forwards with a Windows Store app to complement its existing Win32 offering, that project seems to have stalled thanks to low user count. The "proper" app is still very much alive and kicking and is both powerful and customizable.
The best free music players for Windows PCs
Don’t let the basic interface fool you into thinking this isn’t worth your time. You can customize its look however you want, and play anything from MP3s and WMA to Musepack, Speex, and even rarer formats with the right plug-ins. There are also extensive tagging abilities and full support for keyboard shortcuts, which makes Foobar2000 a great piece of software for managing...

  • Why I Like Obsidian
Tried Obsidian for a while, loved a lot about it, but....mmm. Obsidian out of the box is a bit limited; plugins are great and add tons of features, but then you start hitting issues with plugin maintainers abandoning plugins you rely on, or needing to make a decision between three different plugins that all do the same thing slightly different. Depending on your use case and expectations that may not be a big... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

I move between machines a lot and prefer an online tool; I'm self-hosting Trilium Notes https://github.com/zadam/trilium ; this looks a bit cleaner but without syncing (or server-side storage) it misses a bunch of potential use cases. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Standard Notes free
Have a look at Trilium: especially if you have a way of running it on an internet connected server, it solved all note-taking problems I had: mainly have access to it from anywhere incl. work. Source: 12 months ago

  • Does anyone have a good note-taking system?
To my understating, you can pay to have Obsidian notes sync. I know nothing of the security around the encryption. One of the main reasons that I went with Joplin Notes over Obsidian is that Joplin gave me the ability to sync without paying for access to a server that I don't know well enough to trust. There is also Trilium notes (https://github.com/zadam/trilium). However, that did not over a sync feature last... Source: about 1 year ago

  • For those who've recently switched from Windows to Mac, what's the one app you miss the most?
Foobar2000. There is no macOS music player that comes close; QuodLibet almost hits the spot, but that's a very large "almost". Source: about 1 year ago

  • This man thought opening a TXT file is fine, he thought wrong
I would 100% agree if it weren't for the existence of the music player foobar2000. Both share similar design goals. But foobar takes it a step further by making the entire UI completely user customizable with a simple built in editor. All without sacrificing speed, compactness, or usability.
