It would be awesome if you guys could install and the report these numbers on ScamShield [https://scamshield.org.sg]. Sadly iOS only for now. I ended up using the free tier of fruux.com (CalDAV service) to sync tasks to iOS. Everything looked good in fruux but was off by +1 days in iOS, not sure why but it was an easy fix. Source: almost 2 years ago
Your original question was about how important it is to encrypt contacts and I think it depends. If you just want to keep your data out of Google's data collection hands, then there are other options to store/sync contacts and calendar data (but most are not E2EE).
